Latest update - According to Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, he has clarified that there's no need for MySejahtera app when refuelling or making payments at any petrol station. Case closed
MySejahtera is probably the most used app right now on our mobile devices, everywhere we go and before entering a premise, we just gotta scan. However, using your phone at a petrol station is risky and it has been announced that there's actually no need to use the app before filling the petrol.
This statement was announced by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), due to a recent viral audio clip that a father got fined RM1000 for not registering with MySejahtera while refuelling. On top of that, the CPRC also said that no individuals should be fined as per in the email below. The Petrol Dealers Association Chief has also confirmed the same statement.
As the public is still required to scan the QR code via MySejahtera when entering any premises, CPRC clarified that "brief encounters such as filling petrol at pump stations or while making payments do not require MySejahtera scanning". That being said, this certainly contradicts with Bukit Aman CID Deputy Director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, as he was quoted by a few news outlets on the necessity to use the app even if the public is not using the convenience store at any petrol station.
