Netflix Games wants to introduce in-app purchases or in-game ads

Netflix has been pushing for a different take with its Netflix Games service, offering access to big titles like GTA. Unfortunately, few users play the 86 games on the platform. And Netflix clearly wants to make money from it, so there are plans for changes.

According to IGN, Netflix is working on ways to better monetise its Netflix Games service. It was found that only about 1% of Netflix subscribers play games on the platform, which means the company isn't about to make any substantial profit from it soon. However, the company is allegedly considering in-game purchases, charging a premium for selected games, or including ads for its ad-supported subscription tier.

If you ask us, it's more important for Netflix to get more of its users interested in playing the games first. It makes more sense for there to be more Netflix Games users before introducing any monetisation method outside of the standard subscription. To do that, Netflix can attempt to secure some exclusive games for the platform, which would incentivise the average gamer to consider subscribing.

This is mere speculation for now, as there's no concrete decision from Netflix yet. But would you consider Netflix Games just for the games and not the video-streaming service?
