Since becoming the world's most popular paid video streaming platform, Netflix has announced its subscriber count in its quarterly financial reports. But in its quarterly report released yesterday, Netflix said it would no longer disclose it to investors. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, only revenue growth will be disclosed to investors as a yardstick for the company's performance. In Q1 2025, Netflix recorded a 12.5% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter last year. This was driven by increased subscription prices for customers in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Argentina.
At the end of last quarter, Netflix had 302 million paying subscribers, with its advertising-supported plans seeing the biggest growth. The company stopped reporting quarterly subscriber numbers because of slowing growth due to competition and the economic slowdown that has yet to recover from the pandemic.
