Netflix has introduced a new feature besides adding a new ads-supporting tier. The video streaming company starts the press release with "People move. Families grow. Relationships end." Although it might sound serious at first read, it's actually for a feature called 'Profile Transfer', which allows users to transfer their profiles to another account.

Transferring profiles to another account will allow the migration of viewing history, My List, personalized recommendations and even saved games. Besides that, various other settings will get transferred too. Profile Transfer will be rolling out to all subscribers soon. It has started today, and users can expect a notification when it's their turn.

However, the source mentions that the major reason behind this new feature could be that Netflix doesn't want its users to use shared accounts. Therefore, if you've moved out of your parent's home, it's time to get a new account and use Profile Transfer. Of course, it's not just about Netflix getting benefits out of this. Users might actually find this feature helpful when they move in with someone and want their old profiles in the new account.
