Netflix rolls out spatial audio for all devices, available for contents that support the format

Popular streaming service Netflix has announced that it is bringing in spatial audio support to all devices so as enhance the listening experience for its subscribers. Hence, users with devices that do not normally support the format can now use it, bringing in theatre-like sound for applicable contents on the platform.

In a statement on its official website, Netflix said that  its spatial audio helps to translate the cinematic experience of immersive audio to any stereo. It began rolling out to Netflix’ available catalogue of contents yesterday, thanks to a collaboration with Sennheiser.

For now, only a limited amount of content have support for spatial audio, including The Adam Project, Stranger Things, Red Notice, The Witcher and others. In order to track the Netflix contents that has support the format, all you have to do is key in ‘spatial audio’ into the platform’s search bar.

Support for spatial audio is the latest audio and video formats support that the Netflix platform is capable of, which include 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos and Netflix Calibrated Mode. Furthermore, if you’re watching on an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, spatial audio will only be available if you set the quality to “High” or “Auto”.
