Last night, AMD announced a new AMD Ryzen 7040U Series mobile processor. It's the first AI processor of its kind and capable of running features on Ryzen AI to free up processor performance for other tasks and more.
According to AMD, the Ryzen 7040U Series mobile processor features Zen 4 Technology with up to 8 cores and 16 threads running up to 5.1GHz (Max Boost). Consuming between 15-30W Thermal Design Power (TDP), the new processor also integrates AMD Radeon 700M Graphics RDNA Technology and AMD Ryzen AI based on XDNA Architecture.
On top of that, it also comes with a new built-in AMD Radeon 700M series graphics. Its GPU Max frequency can go up to 2.7GHz on AMD Ryzen 7 and 9 based on 12 cores & 4RB+. Peak performance has also been increased up to 8.6 TFlops (FP16) all thanks to the DDR5/LPDDR5 memory configuration.
AMD also said that it has an exceptional battery life thanks to smart power management, which was designed to deliver the longest possible time unplugged. There will be four models available in the future, namely the Ryzen 7 7840U (with Ryzen AI), Ryzen 7 7640U (with Ryzen AI), Ryzen 7 7540U and Ryzen 7 7440U.
We should be expecting to see more laptops equipping the new AMD Ryzen 7040U series mobile processors sometime this year. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
