Since the M1 introduction in 2020, the 8GB Unified RAM has been a staple for Apple Mac SoC. However, we could see a 12GB Unified RAM as the standard for M3 onwards. That said, what should you know about this change?

For your information, the current MacBook Pro models can be installed with M2 Pro or M2 Max SoC. These SoCs start from 16GB of Unified RAM and are upgradable to 32GB RAM. According to Mark Gurman via the “Power On” newsletter, Apple is testing the new MacBook Pro models with 36GB and 48GB of RAM. This suggests that the company could provide new options for the RAM configurations.

Moreover, Youtuber Yadim Yuryev posted on X that the new Unified RAM configuration could be 12GB. The man mentioned that M3 Max’s 48GB version is four times higher than the base M3. That means the base model could launch with a starting 12GB RAM. If this is true, then Apple deserves praise for this move. That’s because the 8GB RAM is too low for its high price. It is also not professional-friendly because of this lacking.
