Xiaomi may be popular for releasing good quality and cost effective devices, but they have yet to release their own smartwatch. If you think the Mi Band is already one, well, that's only half true because it's manufactured by another company called Huami, and they will be releasing their own smartwatch soon on 30 August.

Huami? Who?

To sum up the history (we mentioned them before, but you probably don't remember them lol), Huami is not a collaboration of Huawei and Xiaomi, but rather Xiaomi and Huaheng Electronic Technology. The two companies' partnership ended up being called Huami, and Huahseng's task is to provide manufacturing expertise and financial backing to Xiaomi. Aside from the Mi Band, Huami also did a new watch called the Amazefit which was backed up by other investors such as Bayan Capital, Sequoia Capital and Morningside Capital.

So if you happen to see a new wearable on 30 August, keep in mind that it's not a Xiaomi watch but Huami's one. Xiaomi's official spokesperson has already cleared that up, so as Huami CEO, Hua Huang on Weibo. But that's not to say that Xiaomi is not working on their own smartwatch, we just have no word on when is it ready.

Lastly, it's said the Huami smartwatch will cost 1000 Yuan (around RM606) when it makes its debut. Stay tuned for more news at Technave.com.
