New Maxis Fibre subscribers to get free unlimited 4G WiFi until your fibre line is installed

If you are looking to sign up for a new Maxis Fibre connection, you're out of luck since the installation won't be done anytime soon. The reason is simple: Fibre broadband installations are not allowed during the movement control order (MCO). To address this, Maxis decided to offer a wireless alternative to potential customers.

Beginning today, Maxis will offer free unlimited 4G WiFi to those who sign up for a Maxis Fibre broadband connection. That's right, you'll be able to get fast WiFi internet without having to pay for it. This is a limited-time offer that is valid till Maxis officially installs the fibre connection you've signed up for, which is likely not going to happen before the MCO is lifted.

The offer applies to all Maxis Fibre plans, including the RM89/month 30Mbps plan. You won't have to pay the monthly fee either. Once Maxis has processed your account, it will provide you with a 4G SIM card, router, and dongle, which will most likely be sent via courier. You'll then be able to enjoy unlimited 4G WiFi till Maxis officially installs your fibre connection, upon which you must return the devices.

While Maxis called it unlimited, video streaming quality could be affected during peak hours if you exceeded 300GB data usage in that month. Regardless, this is a way you can get free internet during the MCO, though you will have to commit to a 24-month contract once you signed up. To find out more, visit the Maxis Home Fibre page.
