Mid-range smartphones are about to get a powerful chipset next year, with MediaTek announcing a new one. Previously, we have posted the news on how we can expect 5G MediaTek chipsets to appear within Q1 2020. But during a press conference recently when the Dimensity 800 chipset was introduced, the company has confirmed that there will be a demo for it at next year's Consumer Electronics Show.

The Dimensity 800 chipset is designed for mid-range smartphones and is meant to be a more affordable alternative to the Dimensity 1000/L chipset, according to GSMArena. MediaTek did not disclose any tech specs for the new chipset announced, but we can assume that it will match up with Huawei's Kirin 810 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765 chipsets.

Additionally, the Dimensity 800 will come with a 5G modem integrated onto the chip. This is expected to be the Helio M70 modem, which will support both 4G and 5G networks. Also, it has a maximum download and upload speed rated at 4.7 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps.

It's good to see more options when it comes to mid-range chips, but only time will tell how well it performs. How well do you think the MediaTek Dimensity 800 will perform? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook page and for more news like this, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
