What’s the opposite of red? If you’re thinking blue, well actually the answer is green but that’s not the point. Today, we have learned that Xiaomi is going to launch a new sub-brand and according to a tech blogger, @Kumamoto Technology, it will be known as Lanmi (Blue Rice).

I know what you’re thinking, it sounds ridiculously funny. But if this is true, then it is what it is. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Lanmi X1 will be the first model in that sub-brand and there will be two models with 4 variants each which is really confusing. The two models will feature the same Snapdragon 660, 5.5-inch display in 1080p resolution, and dual Sony IMX362 or IMX368 camera sensors. Both have a fingerprint scanner too, but the difference is one is at the front and the other at the back.

The four variants is based on the memory storage so the two models will have

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM
  • 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM
  • 6GB RAM  + 128GB ROM

In other news, the supposedly new Xiaomi phone that was teased earlier turns out to be a new Mi Note 2 Special Edition and looking at the tech-specs, it doesn’t really offer anything special because the only thing that changed is the memory capacity which is now 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM. Everything else is the same and it will go on sale for 2899 Yuan (~RM1834).
