As the Malaysian government slowly rolls out 5G services across the nation, Ericsson Malaysia just announced that there is a newly established Network Operations Centre (NOC). This is in line with assisting Digital Nasional Berhad's (DNB) single wholesale 5G network and Ericsson will monitor, maintain and manage it.

Located at Ericsson's premises, the team that will take care of the DNB 5G NOC will include managing network faults, security and performance KPIs. Leveraging Ericsson's Operations Engine, the NOC is powered by advanced analytics and machine learning algorithms whereby it can predict potential network issues.

According to David Hägerbro, Head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh, he said the Ericsson NOC is capable of maintaining the most complex and large-scale 5G networks round the clock and will serve as an assurance to the MNOs using the DNB 5G network regarding the performance and health of the DNB network. On top of that, this will also open up career opportunities for Malaysians in this sector.

Serving as the first point of contact for all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Ericsson will be basically in charge of technical issues, customer complaints, network performance, quality-related matters, billing and charging related issues. The company has also been noted to manage Digi's mobile network since 2018 and Managed Services for U Mobile billing operations since 2012.

It's going to take a while more before 5G becomes mainstream. God knows when this service will be normalised in the future so until then, stay tuned for more 5G related news at TechNave.com.
