For years, smartphones have been the industry where companies chase numbers and clout. We still see cool new features sometimes, but we mostly get upgrades to battery capacity, performance, or the display. Having said that, the ROG Phone 9 having a 185Hz refresh rate still sounds pretty wild.
According to Digital Chat Station, ASUS will be the first to put a 185Hz LTPO display on a smartphone with the ROG Phone 9. Some speculate that 185Hz is achieved by overclocking the display through the Game Genie app, but the normal max refresh rate should still be 165Hz like the ROG Phone 8. Of course, there's no official confirmation on that. But since DCS is usually a reliable source, so the 185Hz part is probably accurate.
Besides the industry-first 185Hz screen refresh rate, the ROG Phone 9 series will feature the "best heat dissipation efficiency layout" to date, IP68 resistance, and an AniMe Vision optical display matrix screen at the back. For the last feature, we're expecting it to feature only on the ROG Phone 9 Pro.
Excited for the latest gaming phone from ASUS? Well, the ROG Phone 9 series is expected to arrive around mid-November, so look forward to the launch news!
