Today, the SD Association have just announced a new SD 80. specification and according to reports, the transfer data speed is about 4x faster than the current one we are using now. Featuring PCIe 4.0 and NVMe interface which is usually found on solid-state drives. it's able to transfer data up to nearly 4GB/s.
Compared with SD 7.0 and SD7.1 specs, the maximum transfer speed is only up to 3938 MB/s based on SD Association's white paper. With this, users will be able to transfer their high-quality videos and media files such as 8K videos (the current trend now) faster than before. SD Association also mentioned that this new specs will soon make its way to SDHC, SDXC, and SDUC, for all we know, it could be on a 128GB SDUC card but we shall see.
It will take a while for this new SD spec to land on several stores so do check local listings in the future. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
