At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) yesterday, Qualcomm announced a new lineup of chips for gaming platforms. The Snapdragon G series consists of three chipsets - Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 - intended for portable handheld consoles.

Qualcomm has announced three handheld console OEM manufacturers are ready to launch devices with the new chipsets. These partners include Ayaneo, OneXSugar and Retroid Pocket. In fact, Ayaneo and Retroid Pocket are each expected to launch a portable console in March 2025, while OneXSugar will release its console sometime in May 2025.

As for the consoles, the one from Ayaneo is the Ayaneo Pocket S2. It has a Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset, WiFi 7 support, and a 6.3-inch 2K display. Next, we have the Retroid Pocket PR Classic, a Game Boy-like retro handheld console powered by the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2. This one has a sizable 5000mAh battery and a 1080x1240 resolution AMOLED display. Lastly, the OneXSugar Sugar 1 is a DS-like console with a dual-screen and a Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset.

It's unlikely any of these devices will officially launch in Malaysia, but would you buy one anyway? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
