With the Biden administration taking over, many must have high hopes that the new government will reconsider the trade sanction imposed on HUAWEI. However, it looks like there will be no good news as the President's pick for Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo has no intentions of removing the sanction.

According to the source, Raimondo has made a statement about her stance claiming that she sees no reasons that HUAWEI shouldn't continue to be on the country's Entity List. She believes that the company is on the list is because it poses a risk to US national security or foreign policy interests. From there, it is apparent that HUAWEI is not regaining access to US technology services or hardware anytime soon.

Following the statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the eastern country remains opposed to sanctions imposed on its corporates by the US and urges them to stop this wanton oppression against Chinese companies. In the fourth quarter of 2020, HUAWEI has lost its place in the top 5 smartphone manufacturers after facing a substantial decline in its global smartphone market share. Despite that, it has been reported that the Chinese company has been working hard to rescue the situation including developing an in-house operating system.
