New Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 version with Snapdragon 650 chipset and Mi 5 reveal date

You may already be aware that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is already out for quite some time now, well there's a new version of it (Redmi Note 3 Pro) and this time it's equipped with the Snapdragon 650 processor (previously it was MediaTek Helio X10). The processor is also backed up by 2x Cortex A72 cores and 4x Cortex A53 cores, with Adreno 510 GPU. Despite the upgrade, Xiaomi decided to put the price CNY 999 (around RM662)  only, so this makes the device the most cheapest and powerful mid-range smartphone available right now.

New Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 tech specs:-

  • Snapdragon 650 processor + 2x Cortex A72 cores and 4x Cortex A53 cores, with Adreno 510 GPU
  • 2GB or 3GB RAM
  • 16GB or 32GB internal storage 
  • 5.5-inch FHD 1080p
  • 16MP rear camera (with ultra-fast PDAF) + 5MP front camera
  • Fingerprint sensor, Sunlight display
  • 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi,   Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, VoLTE and USB OTG connectivity
  • MIUI 7 
  • 4050 mAh battery

The PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) is ultra-fast as it only takes 0.1 seconds, F/2.0 apertures are also present for the two cameras. There are currently two versions of the device, one with 2GB RAM/16GB ROM model and the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM as seen above in the list, and both design are reported to be the same. The first model will launch on 17 January in China first, whereas the latter does not have an official date yet.

Lastly, there's a leaked information regarding the Mi 5's released date. It seems that Xiaomi is planning to have a press conference on 22 February, which coincidentally starts the same day as the MWC 2016 in Barcelona on 21 February. Stay tuned as we bring more Xiaomi news to you all.
