New Xiaomi patent shows different pop-up camera designs, including one with 7 sensors

We all know by now that patents don't necessarily result in finished products. However, it's still cool to see what brands and companies are cooking up in the background. Recently, a new patent filing by Xiaomi was approved by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and it contains designs for a smartphone with a pop-up system with multiple cameras.

There are three separate designs, all of them depicting the same mechanism that houses both front and rear cameras, included in the patent document. The first one has two cameras for the front and back, followed by two front and three rear cameras for the second, and two front with five rear cameras for the third design. It should be noted that while the pop-up mechanism is quite wide, we're uncertain if the housing is thick enough to fit that many camera sensors inside.

In order: Front, Back (1st design), Back (2nd design), Back (3rd design)

In our opinion, while the first and second design seems doable, the third one might be a tad unrealistic. But what do you think about it and are you interested in a phone with a pop-up system containing seven cameras? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
