Recently we reported on some leaks on the next-generation chip of the Snapdragon 888 Plus which Qualcomm accidentally leaked some information on. Today we got a new leak revealing that the new chipset will have an X2 super core with a frequency of 3.09GHz.

There are many rumors about the new name for the new chipset, we believe by continuing the previous naming pattern, it will be named as the Snapdragon 898 instead of Snapdragon 895. And with the new leaked information, it is going to have a performance improvement over the predecessor.

As the previous GeekBench 5 data shows a single-core running score of about 1250 and the multi-core running score of about 4000, it brings a significant upgrade compared to the previous Snapdragon 888 chipset. So there is every reason to think, in AnTuTu, its score will exceed the one million mark for the first time.

And what we knew, the Snapdragon 898 will be using a 1+3+2+2 quad-cluster architecture. The Kryo 780 super-large core is based on Cortex-X2, the Kryo 780 large core is based on Cortex-710, and the Kryo 780 energy-efficient large core is based on Cortex-510 (High frequency) / the Kryo 780 energy efficiency small core is based on Cortex-A510 (low frequency). These Cortex-X2/A710/A510 are ARM’s latest public version design based on a 64-bit v9 instruction set, replacing X1/A78/A55 respectively.

As of now, there is still no official information on it and the actual release date yet, so do take this with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more tech news updates on TechNave.com
