It seems not all companies are going for higher pixel counts on smartphones. Back in January, Honor Marketing Manager Shen Kailiang suggested that the company is looking at larger pixel sizes instead. A new leak seems to support this, as it shows that Honor may go for a 1/13-inch Sony sensor for its upcoming Honor 30.

The image on SlashLeaks shows a presentation slide comparing the pixel and sensor size of four different phones. In the image, we can see that the alleged Honor 30 series will have a large 1.2µm pixel size and a sensor size of 1/1.3-inch. Theoretically, it should allow the Honor device with superior low-light images.

This large camera sensor will likely be used on the Honor 30 series' main camera. There has been no news on the camera resolution yet, but it's believed to be a 48MP sensor. Regardless, the Honor 30 series is supposed to be launched in April 2020 so we'll know more soon.
