realme recently released the realme Pad mini in Malaysia, an entry-level tablet featuring a 8.7-inch display starting at just RM599. Now, it looks like the company is poised to release its big brother, the realme Pad 5G soon and it may just come with the latest flagship mobile chip from Qualcomm.
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, realme may be releasing two variants of the Pad 5G, one with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and the other with the 8 Gen 1+. Taking to his Weibo account, the tech insider claimed that the tablet will be launching soon in China.
An upgraded version of the realme Pad from last year, Digital Chat Station asserted that the Pad 5G’s prototypes are powered by the two chipsets mentioned. As for the Snapdragon 870 variant, it has a 2.5k resolution screen, a 8360mAh battery, stylus support and as the name suggests, 5G connectivity.
Another prototype may have the same specs but instead be powered by the yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ from Qualcomm. Speaking of which, Qualcomm is expected to unveil the chipset later this year.
Hence, it would make sense for the Pad 5G to only be released after Qualcomm made the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ official. However, to take this information with a grain of salt as the specs of the Pad 5G hasn’t been announced just yet.
Previously, realme India CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed the Pad 5G to be in the works during an interview and further said that it will be available in India. Therefore, we can expect for the Pad 5G to be sold in Malaysia too as it won’t just be a China-exclusive release based on Madhav’s statement.
