Back in early June, the ROG Xbox Ally X series was unveiled, but no price was announced yet. But according to a recent leak, the upcoming PC handheld gaming device could launch for $799.99 (~RM3.4K). For context, that's $100 more than the launch price of the original ROG Ally.
Is the ROG Xbox Ally X worth that much?
While the upgrade brings significant hardware improvements, there's a silver lining for budget-conscious gamers too (especially for Malaysian gamers). The Xbox Ally X will pack a larger 1TB SSD, double the RAM at 24GB, and a much larger 80Wh battery.
Design-wise, the Xbox Ally X will maintain a similar look but will be slightly heavier due to the larger battery and internal changes. It’s still powered by the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip, which has been praised for its solid performance in compact gaming systems.
Price drop for the original ROG Ally?
Alongside the Xbox Ally X leak, there’s more good news - the original ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme) is expected to get a permanent price cut. The new retail price could drop by $100 more, but that remains to be seen. As for the Malaysian model set, there are no details yet on how much it could drop when the Xbox Ally X arrives here.
As a fresh reminder, the ROG Ally in Malaysia is RM3299, whereas the ROG Ally X is RM4299. If we have to guess, the ROG Xbox Ally X's price range could fall in between that price range, or perhaps even more. We will just have to wait and see.
If the leak holds true, we may be looking at an official announcement very soon, possibly at Gamescom 2025 or another major gaming event. Until then, the Xbox Ally X is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated hardware releases of the year. Stay tuned for the official news coverage only at TechNave.com.
