If there's one thing that few expected, it's Apple working on car technology. But the company has allegedly been working on an Apple Car and a new patent with some details have emerged. Based on the patent published on USPTO, we see that the vehicle will have some special passenger security features and an in-car VR system.

According to AppleInsider, the Apple Car will use a Dynamic Element Protection system to control the car door. It's designed mainly for safety, as it can detect hazards and dangers and respond accordingly. For example, if the car is parked it can detect another vehicle will be passing by and will keep the door closed to prevent an accident. There are other scenarios described by the patents as well, such as what happens if the car is partially or fully submerged.

Besides the safety system, there are also two new patents for an augmented reality display system and an immersive virtual display. The first one talks about how it can enable AR displays on glass surfaces like the windscreen, which will display info like current speed. As for the second one, it seems to be more about how Apple can make it so that passengers don't get motion sickness from using VR in the car.

From a technological standpoint, these new features sound fancy but patents don't pan out successfully. Regardless, it'll be interesting to hear something official from Apple about this. But what do you think, would you want the features mentioned above in your car? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
