Rumours of a next-gen Nintendo Switch have been around for years, with Nintendo denying all of them. But in the last week or so, the Microsoft-Activision hearing has unearthed interesting insider info. Well, it seems a Switch 2 isn't out of the picture.

According to Nintendo World Report, an email between Activision CEO Bobby Kotick and Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa mentions such a device. The former allegedly claimed that the next-gen Switch has "closer alignment to 8th generation hardware", referring to the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One.

If true, the Switch 2 could be a new hybrid console capable of 1080p gaming at 60FPS. On paper, that doesn't sound all too impressive. Both are 10-year-old consoles by now and aren't as capable of handling modern titles. This could affect third-party publishers trying to port games to the new console. On the other hand, game studios under Nintendo should be able to produce better-looking games.

Of course, this is highly speculative, so take the news with a grain of salt. With that said, do you think a PS4-level performance is enough for a next-gen Nintendo Switch? Please share your thoughts on our Facebook page, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about this.
