Next update for Google Lens will add new features like text-to-speech

Some Google apps are updated often, while others get new features once in a blue moon. Google Lens falls into the latter category, but the new features it's getting are handy for sure. The company yesterday announced three new features for the app and should already be available in a few regions.

First up is the ability to transfer scanned text from your phone to your computer. You can now scan written text with Google Lens, then press the "Copy to computer" button to do just that. This lets you transfer the selected text to a PC with a Chrome browser that is synced to your Google account. The function could be useful for scanning your handwritten notes or even materials like brochures.

Next up is a form of text-to-speech function. With the "Listen" button, Google Lens will now let you scan text in a language of your choice and enunciate what was written. It's a useful feature for those who may be learning a new language, as you can practice along when the app is reading the text out loud.

Lastly, Google Lens now has a feature that allows you to quickly search for words in scanned text. When you highlight words or terms in scanned text now, the relevant Google search results will pop-up. This seems useful if you want to quickly search for words or terms you don't understand.

Google announced that the in-line search and Copy to computer feature are already available, while the Listen feature is coming soon. But the Google Lens update either isn't available for our region or has been delayed. With that said, would you find these features useful?
