Nikon has recently announced a new AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens targeted at the Nikon DX-format range of DSLR cameras. In addition to this the announcement also included an SB-300 compact Speedlight flash. In terms of tech specs the new lens offers about 7.8x optical zoom equivalent to 27-210mm in 35mm. The new lens should provide a worthy update for the Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G lens as it includes an ED lens element plus one aspherical lens element, enabling better vibration reductions for camera shake up to 4.0 stops. A Silent Wave Motor complements everything for fast and quiet auto-focusing.

The aforementioned SB-300 allows for 120 degree rotation for bounce flash photography. It can be used with the Nikon FX and DX DSLR cameras along with Coolpix cameras that have i-TTL flash control. The SB-300 is expected to sell for around $150 (RM488) while the new AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens is expected to sell for $600 (RM1952). Since the lens is not expected to sell with any current Nikon DSLR cameras, many are expecting it to be sold with a still unannounced matching body.
