The Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular game consoles in the world thanks to its portability, exclusive games and just downright being fun to play on. However, the console’s ‘walled garden’ approach to software and hardware can be quite frustrating for some users.

In fact, did you know that despite the Switch having a USB-C port, Nintendo said that users should only use a specific cable to charge the device? Nintendo has even warned users that forcibly plugging in a non-Nintendo Switch-specific cable may damage the Switch’s USB port or even the cable.

Using your smartphone charger cable to charge your Switch may not even work too. Nintendo shared that if you have trouble plugging in, do check that your are using the correct cable.

Besides that, Nintendo has also warned users to not leave their Switch uncharged for a long time. The company recommends users to charge the device at least once every 6 months or risk not being able to charge at all.
