Long-time Switch users might love this. Rumours say the new Nintendo Switch 2 could feature a magnetic joystick tech for a better playing experience. What does this mean for the console? This is what you should know about the console.

If you are a long-time Switch user, you might be aware of the drifting joystick issue. That is a very common issue among all Switch users, and it seems that it will continue. In case you don’t know, this issue is caused by wear and tear. Basically, your joystick will start drifting in a certain direction, so that even if you leave your thumb off the stick, your avatar will continue to slowly move towards a certain direction.

However, that could change soon. Recently, Nintendo filed several new patents for the console. That includes the magnetic fluid-based joy-con to register movements better. Compared to the normal joy-con, this tech uses use magnetic fields to detect movement without any physical contact and thus doesn’t suffer the same kind of wear and tear issues.

We have yet to confirm other details on this tech. However, it is safe to assume that it will retain most features from the previous consoles. Moreover, you could expect the Switch 2 to be pricier than its predecessors.
