Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch 2, is off to a blazing start, selling over 6 million units globally since its launch on 5 June 2025. The company confirmed the milestone in its latest earnings report, marking the Switch 2 as its fastest-selling console to date.

Demand Surges, Supply Struggles, and Software Sales Riding High

According to this source, about 5.86 million Switch units were sold in the first month alone. Nintendo reports demand exceeding supply in multiple regions, and the company is ramping up production to meet global demand.

On the Switch 2 game sales side, about 8.67 million games were sold, led by Mario Kart World with 5.63 million units. However, bundled console deals contributed heavily to the early software success. On the other hand, Donkey Kong Bananza and other upcoming exclusives like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Monster Hunter Stories 3 are expected to drive further growth.

Eyes on the 15 Million Mark

Nintendo aims to sell 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026, and with the holiday season approaching, that goal looks increasingly achievable.

To refresh your memory, the official Nintendo Switch 2 standalone console is RM2488, while the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle, which includes the Mario Kart World Game card, is at RM2688.
