Nintendo Switch could faces shortages soon due to 20% production cut

For many electronics companies, the big sales period is coming soon. With Black Friday in November and Christmas in December, sales of devices like the Nintendo Switch is expected to rise. But sources claim that it could also face a holiday shortage.

According to Nikkei Asia, Nintendo can only churn out around 24 million units of Nintendo Switch for the current fiscal year (end on 31 March 2022). This is allegedly 20% lower than the company's original projected number. As you would expect, it's due to the shortage of semiconductor chips and other components amidst strong demand for the handheld console.

In other words, you might want to consider getting a Nintendo Switch now instead of waiting for a year-end sale. A lot of gamers who don't have a Switch, or are aiming to get the new OLED model, would be looking to buy one during a sale. So if you take too long, you might not be able to get one due to the shortage. If a shortage happens, we could see the prices of the Nintendo Switch go up again, so keep that in mind.

Of course, we're not experts on the subject and are only speculating, so don't take this too seriously. But do you plan to get a Nintendo Switch soon anyway? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
