It is important to pay close attention to your online accounts, as you never know when they would be compromised. This is especially through for bank accounts or those that have payment methods linked directly to it. Take the recently announced case, where Nintendo revealed that 160000 accounts were hacked into.

According to Nintendo, hackers had been using stolen Nintendo Network IDs to access the accounts of Nintendo users. Many of them have reported missing funds from their accounts, or that the funds have been used to make in-game purchases, such as virtual currency for Fortnite. Having access to these compromised accounts also allowed hackers to play the user's games or change details like the linked email address.

Due to this massive breach, Nintendo has announced that users will no longer require the IDs to login. The password for all compromised accounts have also been reset and Nintendo has asked that users create new, more secure passwords. Also, Nintendo has promised that it will work on improving the security of its system to prevent this from happening again.

Even if you haven't received a notification from Nintendo about this, it might be a good idea to change your password as soon as possible. With that said, do you change your passwords often or use extra measures like two-factor authentification? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
