For the longest time, the Nintendo Switch 2 was heavily rumoured to launch during the pandemic period but it never happened. Instead, what we got was the Switch OLED and Switch Lite, and that was about it. However, the rumours are back again with some spicy hot expectations.

According to both Eurogamer and VGC, Nintendo reportedly showed Switch 2 tech demos at the recent Gamescom event to select developers on how the system performed. The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild was included in the tech demo, showcasing high framerate and resolution, as well as The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 which was shown in 2021 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It should be noted that these games aren't likely to be re-released for the Switch 2.

On top of that, the Switch 2 is said to be capable of using NVIDIA's DLSS upscaling technology with advanced ray tracing. That being said, sources said it doesn't mean the alleged console will be as powerful as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Additionally, an upscaling to 4K resolution could be possible besides 1080p. Sources believe that 2024 is a realistic release window for the successor.

Rumours of development kits in the hands of key partners have also been circulating around for a few months now. Nintendo also has a few gaming titles slated for 2024, which include a new Princess Peach game and a Luigi's Mansion 2 port. The much anticipated Metroid Prime 4 still has no release date.
