Nintendo sued a streamer for streaming pirated Nintendo games

Those of you who are gamers should know about Nintendo. You may also know that Nintendo won't hesitate to take action against individuals or companies for copyright infringement. This time, the company is going after an individual for streaming pirated Nintendo games.

According to 404 Media, Nintendo announced that it's suing Jesse Keighin (aka Every Game Guru) for streaming Nintendo games online via YouTube and Twitch. The streamer was also accused of pirating leaked games and playing them with an emulator on PCs without paying. That's a big no for Nintendo, known for being ultra-aggressive against parties or individuals who violate their copyrights.

Nintendo claimed that Keighin has pirated at least 10 leaked Nintendo games since early 2022. The company has also sent over 50 DMCA takedown notices to remove Keighin's streams and channels with pirated content. However, Keighin remains unrepentant, even taunting Nintendo by saying he has "a thousand burner channels". Keighin also encouraged and provided his audience with links to pirated Nintendo games.

Nintendo is demanding USD150,000 (~RM660,904) per copyright infringement. That could add up to more than a few million USD once it's tallied, so Keighin will be in big (financial) trouble when he's ruled guilty. If you're interested in the case, read the full document here.
