Nintendo will stop official repairs for Wii consoles soon

If you still own a Nintendo Wii console and play it regularly, best start taking better care of it. Nintendo has announced that beginning 31 March 2020 it wouldn't be servicing damaged units anymore, at least not in Japan. The short announcement from Nintendo Japan did not mention availability of repair services in other countries.

According to the official notice (in Japanese), the company is finding it hard to secure the parts used for repairs and plans to stop repairs because of that. It also mentions that once Nintendo runs out of parts for repair that have been stockpiled, the company will not be able to repair any Wii consoles anymore.

From the description, it sounds like Nintendo or the supplier is no longer manufacturing the parts needed. Considering that the console is more than 14-years-old by now, perhaps it was to be expected. Having said that, how many of you are still playing on the Nintendo Wii?
