The completion process of the Automated Passenger Mobility Service (Aerotrain) project is currently still in the multi-phase testing stage. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the contractors involved were carrying out dynamic tests and several other tests. He said:

“Now (the contractor) is still conducting dynamic tests but after that, there is a full system test and system integration before it can be handed over to the authorities for final testing... although previously they gave the impression that it could be completed by Jan 31, but so far they have not given a fixed date or a specific date for the Aerotrain (to operate).”

In addition, Aerotrain, the automated transit system operating at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), has been the backbone of the airport's internal transportation since it began operating in 1998. However, with a service life of more than two decades, this system is increasingly experiencing technical disruptions.

Last year, Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) announced steps to replace the old Aerotrain system with a new one. This Aerotrain replacement is expected to improve the passenger experience at KLIA, reduce the risk of operational disruption, and support the growth of air passenger traffic.
