Meta has now notified developers, stating that support for the Like button and also support for comments on third-party sites outside the Facebook platform will be terminated effective February 10, 2026. So, what should you know about it?

 

A transition to a more modern platform

For your information, this move is in line with changes in usage patterns, in addition to the transition to a more modern platform. Previously, Facebook offered a Like button and comment box support to web developers, allowing it to be integrated into web development.

Moreover, this move allowed you to press the “Like” button on any article they were reading outside of Facebook, in addition to using your Facebook identity to leave comments. After February 10, 2026, the Like and Comment buttons will no longer appear on websites outside of Facebook and will be closed. For web developers, you can remove the integration by that date.
