No more privacy breach, Airbnb bans the use of indoor security cameras starting end of April

If you frequently use Airbnb, this update might excite you. Recently, Airbnb confirms it will ban the use of indoor security camera starting late April. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, privacy breaches have been a major concern for Airbnb users. This is especially true for females because there are increasing reports of hidden cams installed within Airbnb premises. If there are no actions taken by Airbnb, this issue might deter everyone from using Airbnb services.

Moreover, Airbnb says it aims to simplify its rules on security cameras and prioritise the privacy of guests. Apparently, this move comes after US comedy show Saturday Night Live aired a spoof Airbnb advert. Airbnb's Head of Community Policy and Partnerships, Juniper Downs said:

"As the majority of listings on Airbnb do not report having a security camera, this update is expected to impact a smaller subset of listings on the platform,"

In addition, this change does not affect the use of doorbell cameras and noise monitors in common areas. That’s because these devices are listed on the property's listing page.
