Xiaomi opened their second flagship store in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX this afternoon. According to Amanz, there is no plan for MIX Fold series to enter the Malaysian market. So, what should you know about it?
No plans so far
For your information, Eddie Huang (Xiaomi's marketing manager for Malaysia) said that at this point, Xiaomi Malaysia still does not have any plans to bring in a foldable device like the Fold due to the lack of demand for the local market.
He explained that in Malaysia, the majority of smartphones sold are still in the entry-level category. Even though flagship devices like the Xiaomi 15 have seen an increase in sales, it is still not high enough for them to start selling the Fold.
It all depends on sales
If things change, he said Xiaomi will not hesitate to sell the MIX Fold device and not just the MIX Flip in Malaysia. In the same session, he also explained that this is also the reason why laptops are no longer marketed in Malaysia.
The last time they sold a laptop was the Redmibook 15 in 2022. Lack of demand caused sales to be stopped.
