So what is Nokia up to these days? Initially, they were supposed to showcase the new Nokia X5 a week earlier but it was unfortunately postponed because of bad weather. Fast forward to the present time, the Nokia X5 is now official and here's what we know about the specifications and features.

Starting with the design, the Nokia X5 is continuing on the notch bandwagon and it really looks too similar to the Apple iPhone X. The whole body is covered in 2.5D glass and no doubt that it looks beautiful, the back is where the dual rear camera setup and fingerprint sensor are located and we can also see the USB Type-C handing at the bottom. The screen panel is 5.86-inch long.

With such a big notch at the first, one would think there's more than just the 8MP front camera and that's correct, sitting alongside with the selfie snapper is another AI-powered sensor that assists in blurring the background. Then for the back, the dual rear camera is a combo of 13MP + 5MP for shooting portrait pictures. It also runs on MediaTek Helio P60 and Android Oreo out of the box, which is upgradable to Android P in the future. Below is the official list of the specs:

  • MediaTek Helio P60
  • 3GB and 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB and 64GB internal storage (expandable memory available)
  • Measures 149.51 x 71.98 x 8.096mm and weighs 160g
  • 5.86-inch HD+ screen panel (19:9 aspect ratio)
  • 13MP + 5MP dual rear camera, 8MP front camera
  • Features Face and Fingerprint Unlock, Bothie Mode, dual-SIM slot, AI beauty, AI stickers
  • Supports Cat.4 LTE modem, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS
  • Android 8.1 Oreo
  • 3060mAh battery

Released in three colour options - Night Black, Baltic Sea Blue, and Glacier White. The Nokia X5 3GB + 32GB model is slated to be 999 Yuan (~RM603) and the 4GB + 64GB is 1399 Yuan (~RM844). That's really cheap for mid-range phone carrying the new Helio P60 chipset and there's no word if it will come to Malaysia yet. Until then, stay tuned for more Nokia news at TechNave.com.
