With many apps roaming on the Play Store, it can be hard to separate the safe and dodgy ones at times. Thankfully, Google will launch a new feature to remedy this issue. That said, what should you know about the Google Play Protect?

For your information, Google will launch an enhanced real-time scanning for app installs soon. This feature is the company’s attempt on improving its threat detection efforts with real-time app scanning at the code level. To put it simply, the Google Play Protect will require you to scan an app before an installation.

Through this method, it can protect your Android devices from malwares or security threats. Interestingly, this feature relies on existing scanning intelligence or data. For instance, the Play Protect feature will assume an app as “malicious” from similarity comparisons, machine learning, or other techniques.

Moreover, the feature could help you protect your devices from malicious polymorphic apps that use AI or other methods to avoid threat detection. Thanks to the machine-learning algorithms, every app that’s scanned could lead to improved better protection against malwares.

According to Google, this feature will roll out to India first, then, other regions. We have yet to confirm the Malaysia release dates for the feature, but it could come in a few months.
