In recent years, brands have excluded charging adapters in the packaging for new smartphones. This started with Apple, which claimed that most users already have one. Now, sources have confirmed that Carl Pei's upcoming Nothing Phone (1) will not ship with a charger either.

According to Gizmochina, the packaging for the Nothing Phone (1) doesn't include a charging adapter inside. Like many other companies, Nothing claims that this is for environmental reasons. Parts of the phone and most of the packaging is made from recycled materials and use zero plastic, which makes the Nothing Phone (1) more environmentally sustainable.

Of course, it's also a method to reduce costs. In the source video, you can see that the packaging is ultra-compact. This makes it cheaper to manufacture and ship to customers around the world. Mind you, a certification for a 45W charger was previously found. This means that the company probably has one that will ship separately. It also means an extra cost, if you need to purchase one.
