Nothing Phone 2 gets the new Android 14 tech - But its still in Beta

Recently, Google announced a stable Android 14 update for the Nothing Phone 2. If you are an owner of the phone, this update might excite you. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, Nothing launched the Nothing OS 2.5, based on Android 14. This update introduces Nothing Touch, it’s a neat revamp for your widgets and provides a new look for your Quick Settings layout. It also introduces the Nothing earbuds icons for better connectivity.

But it does not end there, the update also features a screenshot editor with advanced editing options. You can also screenshot quickly with a three-finger swipe. Plus, the update features a new monochrome theme and a back gesture app for interactions.

In addition, you can customise the Lock Screen shortcut options such as do not disturb, mute, QR code scanner, and video camera. Interestingly, you can set separate volumes for ringtones and notifications. These are some of the features that come with the Nothing OS 2.5,

To get this update, your Nothing Phone needs to run the Nothing OS 2.0.3. You can download the APK from the official announcement page on Nothing forums, install it, and navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version. After all that, tap “Check for a new version,” follow the steps, and everything should be okay. Remember, this update is still in beta.

We have yet to confirm the Malaysia release dates or the tech specs for the update. As of now, we will have to wait and see what Nothing plans for us. Hopefully, the update will please Nothing fans in Malaysia.
