In case you didn't know, Nothing just launched its latest smartphone. The company mentioned last month it would be releasing the Nothing Phone (2a) today and confirmed it would be available here starting tomorrow for RM1699.

Let's do a quick recap on what we know about this phone. First, the Nothing Phone (2a) isn't a variant of the Nothing Phone 2. Instead, it's a direct successor of the mid-range Nothing Phone 1 launched in 2022. As such, it sports a modest Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, which was tweaked to deliver greater performance at optimal power efficiency.

Besides the chipset, we see an upgrade in many other areas. It has a larger 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a bigger 5000mAh battery, and 45W fast charging. In exchange, the charging coil was removed, so no wireless charging for this one. The rear still features a set of two 50MP cameras, but the front camera was upgraded from 16MP to 32MP. RAM and storage remain at 12GB and 256GB, respectively. Despite slightly larger dimensions, the Nothing Phone (2a) weighs less than its predecessor. Frankly, you can see the new model as an enhanced version of the Nothing Phone 1.

Of course, the biggest changes are not under the hood, so to speak. In fact, the most notable change is the design of the phone. This time, Nothing decided to place the cameras, both rear and front, towards the centre of the phone. The LED sections for the Glyph interface have also been reworked and take up less space, making it more subtle than other Nothing smartphones. Overall, the new look feels more 'symmetrical'.
