Nothing has finally unveiled the new Phone (4a) Series, with the series including the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro. As you can tell by the name, these are new mid-range tier phones, and according to Nothing, the series combines refined design, bold colour options, flagship-grade photography capabilities, and powerful Snapdragon chipsets to redefine expectations in the mid-range segment.

AMOLED Displays and Snapdragon Performance

The Phone (4a) Pro features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, 450 PPI, and a 144Hz refresh rate. Peak HDR brightness reaches 5000 nits, making it the brightest display on a Nothing phone so far. The panel also supports 2500Hz touch sampling for fast gaming response and 2160Hz PWM dimming for improved eye comfort. Durability is ensured with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

On the other hand, the standard Phone (4a) uses a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and peak brightness of 4500 nits in HDR mode. It also supports 2160Hz PWM dimming and 2500Hz touch sampling for responsive interaction.

Performance-wise, the Phone (4a) Pro runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform, delivering improvements in CPU, GPU, and AI performance, and is paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. Meanwhile, the Phone (4a) is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, offering improved performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation.

Flagship-Level Camera Systems

The Phone (4a) Pro features a Sony LYT700C main camera with optical image stabilisation and a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens capable of reaching up to 140x zoom, the longest zoom capability on a Nothing phone so far. A Sony ultra-wide sensor and a 32MP front camera complete the setup. Powered by the TrueLens Engine 4 imaging system, the phone supports Ultra XDR photos and 4K Ultra XDR video with HDR processing similar to Dolby Vision, delivering improved colour accuracy and dynamic range. The Phone (4a) also features a strong camera system, including a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3.5x periscope lens, a Sony ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP selfie camera.

Refined Transparent Design with Improved Durability

As we reported before, the Phone (4a) Series continues Nothing’s signature transparent design language while introducing stronger materials and a broader colour palette. It maintains the transparent aesthetic but introduces a redesigned upper section highlighting the central camera, a red recording light, and a new Glyph Bar. The lower portion reveals internal structures beneath the glass panel. The device includes reinforced buttons, a strengthened frame, and IP64 protection, with colour options including black, white, transparent blue, and soft pink.

There's also the Phone (4a) Pro, featuring a precision-crafted metal unibody with flat surfaces and a slim 7.95 mm profile, making it the thinnest Nothing phone to date. The metal finish improves heat dissipation through a 5300 mm² vapour chamber cooling system and adds structural strength, while IP65 dust and water resistance offers protection including submersion up to 25 cm for 20 minutes. Its transparent rear panel integrates the camera module and the upgraded Glyph Matrix seamlessly into the metal frame, creating a smooth, gapless finish that reflects light elegantly. Colour options include black, silver, and metallic pink.

New Glyph Bar and Upgraded Glyph Matrix

The Phone (4a) introduces a redesigned Glyph Bar featuring 63 mini-LEDs arranged across seven light zones, delivering brightness up to 3500 nits. The lighting system provides visual notifications for calls, messages, charging status, and timers while also serving as a subtle fill light for photos and videos. Custom light sequences can also be assigned to contacts and notifications.

The Phone (4a) Pro takes the concept further with a Glyph Matrix composed of 137 mini-LEDs. Despite using fewer lights overall, the matrix covers a 57 percent larger area and delivers brightness of around 3000 nits. The upgraded system supports features such as Battery, Timer, Digital Clock, Solar Path, and Glyph Mirror through the Glyph Matrix always-on display experience, allowing users to view information without turning the screen on.

Nothing OS 4.1 Adds AI Tools and Personalisation

Nothing OS 4.1 introduces a redesigned interface with refreshed icons, a new lock screen layout, and improved dark mode support. Multitasking features include floating apps and resizable quick settings, while widgets have been expanded for greater flexibility.

The update also introduces an AI Dashboard that gives users control over AI-powered features. Key tools include Essential Search for quick cross-app queries and Essential Memory, which personalises results based on user activity and saved content. The Playground feature allows users to create simple AI-powered apps for the home screen without coding.

For the first time in the series, Essential Space supports cloud access, allowing users to access content across phones, desktops, and laptops. Nothing has also confirmed that the Phone (4a) Series will receive three years of Android updates and six years of security patches.

Battery and Availability

Both devices are powered by a 5080mAh battery supporting 50W fast charging, which can recharge up to 60 percent in around 30 minutes. Nothing says the battery is designed to retain more than 90 percent capacity after 1,200 charging cycles.

Finally, in Malaysia, pricing and availability for the Phone (4a) Series will be announced on 1 April 2026. That's less than a month to go, so until then, do stay tuned for our official news coverage only at TechNave.com.
