Last year, the supply disruption caused prices of graphics cards to spike. The situation is probably not going to change anytime soon, but that's not stopping Nvidia from launching new GPUs at CES 2022. The company made some big announcements at the event, so let's take a look at what's new.
GeForce RTX 3070/3080 Ti for laptops
Nvidia's biggest reveal this time include the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPUs for laptops. The former is made for 1440p gaming, offering up to 70% more performance than the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. As for the latter, it can allegedly deliver around seven times the 3D rendering speed of the latest Apple M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro 16-inch.

In other words, gaming laptops equipped with these two GPUs will be better for both games and 3D rendering. On top of that, they're expected to have better energy efficiency. With the CPU Optimizer, Rapid Core Scaling, and Battery Boost 2.0 technologies, users could enjoy up to 70% more battery life.
GeForce RTX 3050 for desktops
If you're looking to get an affordable GPU for your desktop, the GeForce RTX 3050 could be a good option. The new GPU has 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM and can handle tough AAA games. According to Nvidia, the GeForce RTX 3050 can output more than 60FPS in games like Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy, Doom Eternal, and Control. This GPU will have a retail price of USD249 (~RM1044) and will be out on 27 January 2022.

Besides the new GPUs, Nvidia also mentioned a few other things. This includes some new 1440p displays with Nvidia G-Sync support and ray-tracing support for more games. The company also added more games to its GeForce Now games streaming platform, which will be available on Samsung Smart TVs in Q2 2022.
