For those of you who are PC gamers, the long wait could be ending next month. Rumours of the new Ampere GPUs from Nvidia have been popping up and it seems that the launch may not be that far off. Reports claim that the company has discontinued production of its Turing GPUs, in anticipation for the launch of the newer cards.

According to Wccftech, Nvidia has ceased all production for its high-end RTX 2000 series GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Super, RTX 2080 Super, and RTX 2080 Ti. In turn, Nvidia is expected to launch its high-end RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti first on 17 September. Subsequently, the RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 will be launched in October and November, respectively.

Traditionally, Nvidia will phase out older GPUs in favour of new ones when they're ready. This is likely because the company would rather spend manufacturing cost on newer cards that are more profitable, as well as maximise the value of older cards before the launch of the new ones. In other words, if you plan to offload your RTX 2000 series card, you better do it soon.

While this is a rumour that you should take with a grain of salt, it won't be surprising if Nvidia did decide that September is a good time to launch. Having said that, would you be interested in getting one of the new GPUs or would you stick to your current one?
