OPPO Malaysia today launched the OPPO A17 for the local market, the latest addition to its A-series family of smartphones. Featuring the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, the smartphone has an ultra-slim retro design with a thickness of 8.29mm and weighs 189g.
Besides that, the A17 comes with 4GB of RAM with support for OPPO’s RAM Expansion technology whereby the device can get up to 4GB more RAM by utilising its 64GB storage. As for the screen, OPPO didn’t specify its panel type or size as of the time of writing but only revealed that it is a Colour Rich Eye-Care Display with 100% DCI-P3 high-colour gamut and intelligent dimming.
The display does have a water drop notch which houses a 5MP selfie camera. As for the rear, there’s a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main camera and an unspecified (as of the time of writing) secondary camera. The main camera setup sports several imaging features, including AI, 360 degrees Fill Light, Portrait Retouching, HDR and more.
Powering up the A17 is a 5000mAh battery with a couple of features to extend battery life, including Super Power Saving Mode and Super Nighttime Standby. Other notable specs include Android 12 via ColorOS 12.1, IPX4 water resistance and USB-C.
The device comes in two finishes; Lake Blue and Midnight Black, with the back cover being made using a composite processing technique, making the phone look and feel like genuine leather. Moreover, the inner texture is embossed with light leather grain and the outer layer is covered with a UV coating, making the phone comfortable to hold, but also dust-resistant and durable.
In Malaysia, the A17 is priced at RM599 for the singular 4/64GB variant. Customers can purchase it at all My OPPO Space, OPPO Brand Stores, OPPO Official Online Store, OPPO Authorized Dealers, OPPO Authorised Online Store, Chain Store Partners and E-comm partners such as Shopee and Lazada.
