OPPO A79 5G release - Dimensity 6020 SoC, 50MP main camera and 33W charging at ~RM1148

After being in the rumour mills, OPPO has finally released the OPPO A79 5G in India, its latest mid-range offering. Featuring some compelling specs at a relatively low price, read on to find out more about the device. 

The mid-ranger is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Under the hood, there’s also a 5000mAh battery with support for 33W SUPERVOOC charging via the USB-C port.

As for the display, it’s a 6.72-inch 90Hz LCD with an FHD+ resolution, 680 peak brightness and Panda Glass protection. There’s also a punch-hole cutout at the top centre, housing the 8MP selfie shooter.

Meanwhile at its rear is where you’ll find the 50MP main + 2MP depth dual-camera setup. Other notable specs include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G connectivity, an IP54 rating, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual stereo speakers, a microSD card slot and colour options of either Mystery Black or Glowing Green.

In India, the A79 5G is priced at INR19999 or ~RM1148 in a singular 8/128GB configuration. As of the time of writing, OPPO has yet to reveal whether the device will be offered in other markets.
