With the OPPO Reno5 series launched in December 2020 and the Reno6 series in May, it makes us wonder if the next one will arrive later this year. Before that happens, someone found out that the upcoming Reno7 Pro will be using a 50MP sensor from Sony, which is overused by the company.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Reno7 Pro will be using Sony's 50MP IMX766 for its camera. The same sensor has appeared on many other devices, including the Reno6 Pro+, Snapdragon version of Reno6 Pro, and Find X3 Pro. Looking at the tech specs, it is a 1/1.56-inch sensor with 50MP resolution and 1.0 µm native pixels (which grow to 2.0 µm with 4-in-1 binning). Furthermore, it supports DOL-HDR and All-Pixel autofocus as well.

However, the Reno7 Pro still has something that we can look forward to, despite using "boring" technology. Previous rumours suggested that an upcoming OPPO phone would be worked on together with camera manufacturer Kodak, and two of Sony's IMX766 sensors will be involving. Therefore, could the Reno7 Pro be the device they're pointing at?
