Sister companies OPPO and OnePlus are reportedly testing a next-gen battery for their smartphones, which is made out of 15% high-silicone content. The smartphone battery is touted to be 8000mAh and supports 80W charging, which wouldn’t be out of place on a tablet!
This is according to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station via his Weibo post recently. In his post, the tipster said that the company’s shared ‘Omega labs’ have been testing the next-gen battery for future smartphone uses.
This would make the battery some 60% larger than the 5000mAh cell that Android smartphones have grown accustomed to in recent years. The latest battery tech involves the use of silicone-carbon, which has a higher energy density, allowing for more compact batteries.
Of course, it remains to be seen if this 8000mAh battery will be available in OPPO and OnePlus smartphones in the near future. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for the latest trending tech news.
